Once upon a time there was a lovable actor named dileep.he was loved by all.such was his comic and romantic prowess that all house wives and college girls just wanted to eat him up.so cute was he that the home audience just couldnt get enough of him.Despite all this he was sad that he was still only the best supporting actor. One day the devil appeared and made a deal."your soul in exchange for a hit movie every year".after seeing Crazy gopalan I think the devil made good on his offer.dileep has no soul.

First of all what is with dileep and this afinity towards thief roles?(Meesa Madhavan, Vettam, Mulla). i'll admit meesa was fun.its not every day you a malayalee robin hood.vettam was ok,but mulla was just terrible.crazy gopalan is trying to leech out the last few ounces of blood left in the genre.it worked!!.the entire genre just fell unconscious thanks to the vampiric gopalan.

The story starts innocently enough in "oonjalaadi" village where gopalan whose peculiarity is to steal Kattila's (door frame) of houses under construction. When the villagers make plans to capture Gopalan, he is forced to shift his activity to the city where he meets lekshmanan (salim kumar). In the city boy meets girl (Debutant Radha Varma plays the de facto damsel in distress) gopalan makes plans to get rich quick.unfortunately the heroe(s) are falsely accused of robbing a bank.gopalan then gets on an avenging spree against the person, who got him involved in the bank robbery which pretty much sums up the second half.Oh yeah.,salim kumar dies.the sidekick role is carried on by jagathi for the 2nd half.

Coming back to the theiving part of it let me just say the entire movie is jus a coglometre of stunts from better english movies.the bank heist is from "Inside man", the building chase sequence was Blatantly ripped off from "Banlieue 13",the safe cracking and pretty much everything was stolen from other movies. These scenes were already done people!!at least try to do them better!.Manoj K Jayan, plays the usual villain, kills people off according to his whims and fancies. His stylishness becomes overbearing after a point.Biju Menon's cameo (as commisioner)is quite interesting.Debutant Radha Varma has nothing special to do other than looking pretty and kicking the sidekick to the sidelines.Jagathy, Biju Menon and Kollam Thulasi reprise their usual roles.Oh!! and salim kumar dies.

Essentially, Crazy Gopalan is not rich in logic and has little in terms of substance and cinematic detail.its a mixture of  dileep's old movies and old jokes. He tries to mix his clownish and macho images to appeal to kids but the effort is just utter garbage with a few adult jokes thrown in the mix (honestly, how can you expect a little girl to understand the boiled eggs joke?).The USP of this movie was supposed to be Dileep appearing in different getups. But most of them are just ridiculous wigs trying o hide the 666.thankfully the fancy dress is few and far away but still produces effects ranging from nausia to vomiting.debutant director dipu's efforts are admirable.but still falls short of expectation.
